Maximum insurable earnings for 2026 are $68,900. Low-income families (net family income of $25,921 or less) may get a family supplement.

How long does EI last?
Regular benefits last 14 to 45 weeks, depending on the unemployment rate in your region and how many insurable hours you worked. Sickness benefits last up to 26 weeks.
Is EI taxable?
Yes. EI benefits are taxable income and tax is withheld from each payment. If your net income is over $87,375 you may also have to repay part of regular benefits.
Is there a waiting period?
Yes, usually one week with no benefits at the start of a claim.
