The April 2025 HST cut
On April 1, 2025, Nova Scotia reduced the provincial portion of the HST to 9%, which made the total HST 14% (5% federal plus 9% provincial). The CRA published transitional rules for sales that straddled the change date, for example goods paid for before April 1 but delivered after it. For purchases made today, 14% is the rate to use.
