Frequently asked questions
What government payments are coming in October 2026?
Advanced Canada Workers Benefit and Ontario Trillium Benefit on October 9, Canada Disability Benefit on October 15, Canada Child Benefit on October 20, and CPP and OAS on October 28. The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (GST credit) was paid on October 5.
Why are some payments early in December?
Benefit payments that would fall over the holidays are moved earlier. In December 2026, CCB arrives on December 11 and CPP and OAS on December 22.
Are CPP and OAS CRA payments?
No. CPP and OAS are paid by Service Canada (Employment and Social Development Canada). The CRA pays the Canada Child Benefit, the GST credit (CGEB), the Canada Workers Benefit and most provincial credits.
Do I have to file taxes to get benefits?
Yes. The CRA uses your tax return, and your spouse's, to calculate CCB, the GST credit and provincial benefits. File by April 30 to avoid a gap in July payments.
