Frequently asked questions
How much is the GST credit in 2026?
From July 2026 to June 2027: $445 for you, $445 for a spouse (or for a single parent's first child), $234 for each other child under 19, and a single supplement of up to $234. The total is reduced by 5% of family net income over $46,432.
What is the single supplement?
Single people without children get an extra amount equal to 2% of net income above $11,564, up to $234 at $23,264. Single parents get the full $234.
When is the GST credit paid?
Four times a year, in early July, October, January and April. See GST payment dates.
Is it still called the GST credit?
Officially it's now the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB). It works the same way as the GST/HST credit, with amounts 25% higher from July 2026 to 2031.
