Alberta's new 8% bracket
Alberta introduced a new lowest bracket of 8% on the first portion of taxable income, which is $61,200 for 2026. Income above that is taxed at 10% up to $154,259, then 12%, 13%, 14% and 15% at higher levels. Alberta also has the highest provincial basic personal amount of any province at $22,769, and indexes it with inflation.
Combined with having no provincial sales tax, Alberta is consistently one of the lowest-tax provinces for most earners.
