BC's 2026 rate change

BC's 2026 budget raised the lowest provincial rate from 5.06% to 5.60% for 2026 and later years. Because the change was legislated mid-year, payroll withholding used a higher prorated rate from July 1, 2026 to catch up, but your 2026 tax return uses 5.60% for the whole year. That's the rate this calculator uses.

The province also increased the BC tax reduction for lower-income earners to $690 for 2026, and has announced that it will pause indexation of brackets and credits at 2026 levels for 2027 through 2030.
